There will be four different play modes for 1 or 2 players including team modes: Single race or Championships (solo or with or against a friend), Locale Championships, 1-on-1 Showdown, and Stunt Challenge. The general vehicle designs are quite imaginative, look really cool, and give off the impression of being a thrill to ride. These 35-plus vehicles include muscle cars, sports cars, vintage cars, trucks, and special unlockable vehicles that rang from things like a jet car to a tricked out minivan. As you move up in class, you'll be presented with faster and more powerful versions of the previous vehicles, of which there are more than 35 in all.
The basic car setup will be the same as last year's NASCAR Rumble, with three different upgrade levels beginning with Rookie, then Pro and then Elite. Players will be able to compete on 15 tracks, with three being dedicated stunt tracks, that will allow players to compete with hot-rodded muscle cars and sports cars in no rules racing. This sequel brings in some new trick-based elements that should give the game the same sort of appeal of titles like San Francisco Rush and EA's own SSX, which blended tricks and racing better than any game before it. Rumble Racing races at 60 frames per second throughout, no matter how many cars are on screen or how many power-ups are being used, and users will be hard pressed to find a moment in the game where it slows down.Įven though it's a big part of the game, there's a lot more to this game than just its unbelievable sensation of speed. There's not another racing game around that has a greater sensation of speed than this - not Daytona USA, not San Francisco Rush, not Ridge Racer, and not even Wipeout. The developers are promising a whole lot of speed and this title delivers it in spades. Touted as muscle car mayhem for the next millennium, the game gives users a chance to take a custom racecar to the limit and beyond with big air stunts, power-ups, tricks and the fastest automobile racing that you'll likely find on any console.
With the sequel to NASCAR Rumble, Electronic Arts is breaking the chains of the previous title's license and is letting loose with the company's first PlayStation 2 racing game, titled simply Rumble Racing.
